Since Project Search started in 2017, CHFT has supported around 36 interns on various placements, with 17 now in paid employment - an ideal way to start the celebrations ahead of Project Search's first-ever National Supported Internship Day, which is next Monday 27th March.

Zulekha Hussain, pictured, graduated from Project Search in 2022 and is now a domestic assistant with ISS. We asked her to tell us about her experience:

What was the best thing about being a PS intern?

Getting to explore different areas of the hospital to work in on my placements and finding a paid job!

How did you feel when you got a paid role?

Happy, I felt good, I came with one goal and I achieved it.

What are the main tasks in your role?

Cleaning the public toilets on the ground floor at Calderdale Royal (these currently have a 5* cleanliness rating), filling up face masks and dry mopping the corridors.

Get involved next Monday

Project Search will be posting on social media next Monday with the hashtag #NSID2023. They would love it if you could like and share these posts far and wide……or even share you own post with your wonderful stories/picture about your experience of working with one of the Project Search interns, but don’t forget to tag them.
