A reminder that from April 1, colleagues will no longer progress automatically through pay steps. This policy had been paused due to the pandemic. 

To progress to the next pay step, colleagues must meet the following standards:

  • Had an appraisal within the last 12 months
  • Have completed all Essential Safety Training elements 
  • Not be part of any formal capability process
  • Not have a live disciplinary sanction in place

Colleagues will be notified in advance of the pay step date to ensure there is clarity on the requirements and if there are any gaps that need to be completed. They will be advised of the deadline for completing the outstanding training/appraisal in order to receive their pay step.

Where any outstanding elements are not completed by the agreed deadline and there are no extenuating circumstances, the pay step will be deferred until the outstanding elements are completed.
