Friday is the last day to register for our inter-Trust cricket and 6-a-side footie tournaments, and one team is hoping to give the others plenty of 'run-s' for their money as they prepare for their cricket matches.

Battye’s Swingers and Bowlers is made up of colleagues from the cardio-respiratory department.

Specialist Clinical Psychologist, Muhammad Faizan (known as Faz and also team Captain), said: "The reason why we’re entering this competition is we’d like to put our team work to the ‘test’ out trying to raise some funds for charity whilst also playing some decent cricket.

"We like to play an exciting form of cricket, called ‘Faz ball’, named after yours truly. The weather has hindered our training so far, but we'll be well prepared and you may see us limbering up at Savile Park. Some of us haven’t held a bat since the age of 8!

"Faz ball is reference to the term Baz Ball. It's essentially a nickname given to the exciting and fast cricket played by the men's England cricket team under the current coach, Brendon (Baz) McCullum."

The team line up is:

  • Muhammad Faizan (Faz) (c)
  • James Battye, Head of Cardiac and Respiratory Physiology Services
  • John Hobbs, Clinical Psychologist
  • Rebecca Robinson, Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist
  • Phil Broadley, Clinical Psychologist
  • Euan Brolly, Clinical Psychologist
