As we see an increase in patients being cared for with Covid and other infections in our hospitals, a reminder that following our Infection Prevention and Control measures is vital to help protect our vulnerable patients and keep our colleagues safe too.
The safest way to do this is by wearing the correct PPE, regular handwashing and knowing when to gel your hands. Colleagues should also not travel to and from work in their uniform.
It's a Must Do to for clinical staff to have their fit test every two years. You can book a session online - there are some dates left in June to book training but in the first instance colleagues are asked to check the register of fit testers. There are more than 220 colleagues trained to fit test their colleagues.
You can find the dates, see the fit tester register and book an appointment if necessary on the Fit Testing intranet page.
More information to prepare for testing
Please do not drink (water is ok) smoke/vape or chew gum 30 minutes prior to being tested. Male colleagues need to be clean shaven.
