Some of CHFT's biomedical scientists (BMS) recently showcased the wonderful world of Pathology to other colleagues, as well as budding future biomedical scientists from Calderdale College at a Health Matters: Pathology Under the Microscope event. The event was held at CRH and was hosted by Chair of CHFT, Helen Hirst, and some of our governors also attended.

The event saw Biomedical Scientists, Noleen Bailey, Zoe Potter and Jemma Morris present an overview of their disciplines along with case studies. A BMS stand was led by Healthcare Science Assistant, Samantha Richardson and Associate Practitioner, Shumaila Mohammad. There were also workshops running which showed attendees how biomedical scientists use microscopes to assist in the diagnosis of disease.

Pathology Operations and Business Manager, and co-organiser of the event, Eishwe Zintint said: "The Pathology Team were so proud to represent our Trust and our profession to the public. It was nice to see the varied audience including governors, lecturers, CHFT colleagues and the Membership and Engagement Team. Everybody interacted with the speakers during the questions sessions. My special thanks go to the speakers and facilitators who were key to the success of this event. We have received lots of positive feedback from the audience, and we feel very proud to be acknowledged for what we do for patient care at CHFT.”

Membership and Engagement Manager, Vanessa Henderson, added: “Huge thanks to our Pathology colleagues for giving up their time to present at the event. It was a fantastic opportunity for our members and the students to hear about some of our hidden services and the critical role they play in the care of our patients.”
