CHFT recently hosted the first face-to-face Infection Prevention and Control Link Champion Event in five years. The focus for the day was on hand hygiene and the gloves off campaign.
Chief Nurse, Lindsay Rudge, and Deputy Medical Director, Neeraj Bhasin, were both present at the welcome event where they spoke to the link champions in attendance. The event provided an opportunity to introduce a new NHS England link champion workbook which teaches about infection control in order to support our champions in their roles.
Matron Lead for Infection Prevention and Control, Belinda Russell, said: "Infection control is important to every patient’s safety journey and without our link champions we wouldn’t be able to perform our roles. Over the next 12 months we hope to support all of our champion links and celebrate their achievements at the event this time next year."
"Feedback was really good, a lot of people enjoyed being back face-to-face rather than over Teams. It was great to see so many smiley faces."
Anyone can become an IPC link champion. If you're interested, please email IPCT@cht.nhs.uk.
