A new Burns, Bruises and Scalds (BBS) prompt in EPR for children aged 12-months and under has received positive feedback from the Safeguarding Team and colleagues alike.
It was created by EPR Clinical Analyst, Claire Rowland, after our Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children, Natalie Wood, contacted her.
Natalie said: “The BBS prompt has been well received. No cases to date have been missed since the function went live. Feedback from the wards is positive and I wanted to share that success with you.
“You brought my vision to life and very much did the hard work and I want to just extend my thanks to you for this.”
If the patient has any burns, bruises or scalds, these can be added to the patient’s record and screened by the Liaison Service, who then contact Natalie for advice. There wasn’t anywhere specific to record this kind of information before.
Chief Nursing Information Officer, Louise Croxall, added: “it’s another step forward digitally and a great example of how digital can help improve patient safety. I know Claire worked really hard on this, so well done.
