Bariatric Nurse Specialist, Stacey Bromley, has transformed the webpages for the Bariatric Surgery Service – and the feedback about the service from patients is already rolling in.

Stacey said: “When I was offered my interview, I researched online what metabolic surgeries were offered at CHFT and couldn’t find any information. I had already worked at CHFT for five years before that and wasn’t aware we offered this amazing service.

“Fast forward and we now have an informative website which will be an invaluable tool to give pre-surgery patients information on what surgeries are offered to help them make informed decisions about their care.

"I couldn't have done all this without the support of the Webteam, so a huge thank you to Adam Kirby for helping me put my vision into reality - a real example of Working Together to Get Results."

Stacey has also made sure there is an FAQ section which post-operative patients can use to help reduce phone calls into the service. There is also a feedback section and the team have already received some great comments about the care received.

  • ‘The pathway is very thoroughly explained and discussed. You feel involved in the journey and the staff are so reassuring. However most importantly, not once have I ever felt judged or patronised because of my obesity.... where I have been in every other aspect of the NHS.’
  • 'Very informative. Every question easily answered. Great bariatric team. Looking forward to my journey.'
  • 'The support I’ve received has been excellent and the team are always available when I’ve needed them. Can’t thank everyone enough’.
  • 'The care, and information I received before and after my operation was second to none. They are always there to answer any questions. All the staff are very friendly and made this scary life-changing experience so much easier. Thank you all millions.'
  • 'The team actually care and value you as a person. The care has been exceptional. If you phone the team they always call back and give you great advice. The group sessions are really good as you get to meet others who are going through the pathway. It’s also nice to talk to people pre and post-op. The surgery team calmed my nerves on the day of surgery. The nurse actually held my hand and skipped with me to the theatre to make sure I was ok. This was a lovely touch which I will never forget. The day after surgery the nurse came to see me and was extremely reassuring. I have had a 5* service throughout’.
