Our ophthalmology department has recently seen two new consultants join the team in vitero-retina (VR) surgery. So a huge welcome to Mr Graham McCollum and Ms Roslyn Manrique-Lipa. They join our existing VR surgeon, Mr Aidan Benson, who started in 2021.
Both have worked in the Trust as locums for a short while, and Graham trained in the region previously. He will be supporting the VR service and emergency eye care and has a passion for improving services.
Graham said: "I came to CHFT because the staff, equipment and culture were the best I have ever seen in the NHS, and I knew I would be happy here.
"I'm a keen cyclist. People may recognise me as the crazy cyclist who cycles up Copley Lane most mornings."
Roslyn hails from South America. She has a doctorate and joins the Trust from Bristol, having completed a fellowship in uveitis. She will be helping to lead and develop our uveitis service in the Trust, as well as VR services.
Roslyn said: "I applied because I felt that CHFT is committed to supporting its employees in professional development. I am delighted to be part of the eye unit and my desire is to keep contributing to the development of our unit. Specifically in vitreoretinal surgery, cataract, uveitis and medical retina which are my areas of expertise. I am also interested in supporting the new generation of trainee doctors."
Ophthalmology Consultant, Aletta Carbone, said: "We are so excited to have both Graham and Roslyn on board. They are both committed to improving patient care in ophthalmology.
"Please say hello when you see them around."
