We saw some heroic tales on Friday from our Community colleagues determined to make it to their patients' homes. There was a lot of love on our social media channels for their efforts - with a selection of images below.

And over the weekend, Clinical Manager, Jayne Duffy shared her thanks too.

"I would like to say a massive thank you to both Hubs 4 and 5 for all working together and ensuring patients received visits on Friday when the snow came down.

"I was so impressed by the dedication and commitment of staff who ensured patients received medications when they were due - many staff working the shifts are new to Community and this was their first experience.

"A big thank you to The OOH team and Palliative OOH team who braced the sub-zero temperatures on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night especially when the snow had turned to ice.  It makes it even more difficult in the dark when trying to find addresses of patients not known to them and having to leave their cars on main roads and walk because of the treacherous side roads. This makes the shift harder and some staff worked 13 hour shifts covering the whole of Calderdale overnight.

"Last but not least a huge thank you to the admin team who spent hours on Friday telephoning patients/families providing them with updates on their scheduled visits and taking over 179 calls with reduced staffing levels, this takes a huge strain off district nursing teams."
