The national NHS Staff Survey results were published last week, and they show that staff morale and engagement at CHFT has seen a marked increase from last year.

Executive Director of Workforce and Organisational Development, Suzanne Dunkley, said: “Thanks so much to every one of our 2,721 colleagues who took part in the 2023 survey.

“It is vital we hear your views about your experiences working here at CHFT. We appreciate everything our colleagues do, whatever role they play, in providing compassionate care for our patients and One Culture of Care for one other.”

What did colleagues say this year?

  • Our engagement score has risen to a score of 7 out of 10 and our morale score increased to 6 out of 10. This demonstrates that colleagues feel more involved with the Trust
  • We heard that we are acting positively when it comes to the NHS People Promises of ‘we work flexibly’, ‘we are always learning’ and ‘we are ‘safe and healthy’
  • We are also hearing that teams work well together to achieve their objectives

There are also areas of focus, and a Trust-wide plan of action is now in place. We’ll be having a real focus on:

  • Providing managers with the tools and skills to lead via One Culture of Care
  • Developing clear development pathways
  • Refreshing our wellbeing offer in order that its accessible and highly valued
  • Focusing on creating a great place to work for everyone at CHFT
  • Developing bespoke development programmes for hot spot areas

We will regularly communicate progress through a You Said - We Did campaign, and work will be undertaken locally in the divisions.
