The votes are in, and our pharmacy dispensing robot is now called Tom, after Pharmacy Volunteer, Tom Hoyle, who has given up his time for five years to help the team.

Senior Pharmacy Technician, Jill Mobbs, shared the lovely news with Tom that his name had not only been put forward by four colleagues, but had been voted as the preferred option by almost 200 voters. After hearing why colleagues had put his name forward, both Tom and the team got quite emotional. We’re told that the robot remained unaffected.  

Tom said: “I’m absolutely gobsmacked really. I’m very grateful for the appreciation and felt quite emotional when Jill told me and the team, it came completely out of the blue. I’m delighted to do what I do, I really enjoy it, as well as all the people I work with, and that’s the reason I do it.”

A prize is being organised for Chris Kirman, Eleanor Nastini, Tom Hoyle, Jill Mobbs, and Sophie Mitchell who all suggested Tom as the name.
