From Monday, 1 April, the Hospital Out-of-Hours Team (HOOP) and our Critical Care Outreach Team will merge to form the Acute Response Team (ART).
The service will ensure we have an equal response 24/7 to deteriorating patients, and the team will respond to NEWS2 of 3 in one parameter or >5.
More information in brief
The team will support training and education for clinical colleagues on the deteriorating patient and sit within Resilience, Acute Flow and Transformation (RAFT).
The management structure will be:
- Medical/Clinical Lead – Intensive Care Consultant, Marcus Beadle and Medical Consultant Joe Quinn.
- Associate Director of Nursing, Renee Comerford
- Clinical Matrons – Jayne Denton and Joanne Briggs
More information will follow on ART, including Call 4 Concern and Martha’s Rule*.
Sister, Lisa Jones, said: "The development of the Acute Response Team is very exciting and something I am very much looking forward to. It means all adult patients, regardless of location, time of day or escalation status, will receive the same high level of care and expertise."
*Call 4 Concern is when a patient or relative has a gut feeling something is wrong but their observations are normal. Martha’s Rule is similar, but specifically around children.
