Our Moving and Handling Team are out and about this week, raising awareness of the importance of completing the Moving and Handling Assessment in EPR.

It’s a legal requirement as part of the Adult Nursing Admission Form – and must be completed, even if the patient doesn’t need any assistance.

Tomorrow - Tuesday, 5th March - they’ll be holding pop-up stalls at CRH and HRI. For the rest of the week do say hello to them as they visit wards to offer support and advice on completing EPR and handing out quick reference guides.

An audit of the mobilising section of the nursing admission form showed that initial compliance was found to be good, yet since then there has been a dip.

If the patient is independent, the first line of the assessment: 'Requires assistance moving/handling' must still be completed by selecting 'No' in the dropdown box.

Please ensure all relevant sections are completed and reviewed every seven days or if the patient’s condition changes.
