It’s smiles all-round from our Clinical Education Team, as they celebrate receiving the NHS Pastoral Care Quality Award.

Head of Nursing and Midwifery Workforce and Education, Dr Janet Youd, said: “This Award represents the excellent standard we give to our newly-recruited Internationally Educated Colleagues (nurses, midwives and AHPs), and the steps the team takes to make them feel well informed prior to arrival, as well as warmly welcomed once they get here.

“There are so many elements involved in welcoming our new colleagues. Whether it’s pre-joining webinars so they can virtually meet the team, to a meet and greet on arrival with some food and groceries. We also provide eight weeks accommodation and help them make arrangements to secure a UK bank account quickly (so they can be paid).

"We also make sure they have tours of the local towns and buddy systems with other internationally-educated colleagues to help them settle into the Yorkshire way of life and the CHFT One Culture of Care. They are also introduced to all our staff networks.”

“A huge shout-out to our Clinical Education Team who have put so much effort into supporting our Internationally Educated Nurses. It’s made such a difference and it’s a credit to the team.”
