As work continues to complete the new pharmacy dispensing robot and inpatient pharmacy rebuild at CRH, Pharmacy colleagues have been putting forward their ideas for a name for their new robot.

The final five shortlisted names are:

  • D Spencer - D Spencer is a gender-neutral name which aptly describes what the robot will be doing
  • Penny Cillin - Penicillin is one of the first (and still) one of the most commonly used antibiotics. Penny used to be a member of the CHFT pharmacy team who was responsible for helping patients acquire the medicines they needed. Penny Cillin is an amalgamation of the two!
  • Robby - Robby the Robot appeared in the Forbidden Planet (and other) films. Robby is hard working and exhibits artificial intelligence. Just the qualities needed for our pharmacy robot
  • Rosie - Similar to Rosie from the Jetsons. She will be our housekeeper; multitasking and keeping us all in order and on track
  • Tom - Tom is a pharmacy volunteer (in his eighties) who has given his time freely for the last five years. Tom volunteers to "say thank you" to the NHS for treating his granddaughters when they needed it. He always brightens our day and we want to give something back to him!

Specialist Commissioning and Transformation Pharmacist, Nigel Watson, said: “We’ve certainly had some interesting suggestions, and it was tough to whittle 18 ideas down to a final five names to be honest.

“We’re now asking CHFT colleagues to vote on their favourite, which will become the adopted name for the robot when we finally start training colleagues in the team next month.”

Please vote for your favourite via this Microsoft form by Monday, 4th March, and the winning name will be revealed the following week.
