Our recent round of Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) highlighted some worrying hazards. So here's a message from our Fire Safety Team.

Electrical safety in our hospitals is of the utmost importance. Good practice allows our Trust to keep our colleagues, patients and visitors safe as well enabling us to carry out business functions smoothly and avoid any potential accidents.

If items are damaged, faulty or not working correctly please report this immediately via the service desk and your line manager.

Here are the main electrical safety hazards to look out for:

  • Overloaded circuits.
  • Faulty wiring.
  • Exposed electrical parts.
  • Damaged insulation.
  • Contact with live wiring.
  • Loose connections.
  • Wet environments.
  • Damaged/ faulty electrical equipment.
