The next Thinking Ahead programme starts on Tuesday, 30th January and is for anyone living with incurable cancer or supporting someone who is.

The programme is a virtual seven-week course which involves weekly 90-minute sessions, delivered by professionals. The course is an opportunity to share experiences and information with others in a virtual group setting.

The Thinking Ahead programme aims to:

  • Help keep patients as well as possible for as long as possible
  • Encourage living life to the full in a supported, self-managed way
  • Offer support to family members and carers
  • Give advice on local services and how to access them when needed
  • Allow an opportunity to consider future planning when time may be limited
  • Give an opportunity to meet key people who may be able to help in the future
  • Offer time for questions and concerns

Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service Manager, Nicola Greaves, said: “The course is a great opportunity for patients and their loved ones to ask the questions that matter the most to them in a supported, friendly environment.

"Peer support is a great way to connect with people going through similar challenges and helps break down the barriers of talking about cancer and the future."

To apply for the programme, email cancer.information@nhs.net and provide the name of the person (you can apply on someone's behalf), an NHS number and an up-to-date contact number.
