The Clinical Education Team have awarded Calderdale Community Midwives their Team of the Month, based on feedback from student nurses who have spent their placements with them.
One student said: “This team are amazing! They were so supportive of me throughout my time in the community placement.
They provided me with ample learning opportunities and helped me to develop my skills, knowledge and confidence. They were amazing and so friendly with the women and families in their care and went above and beyond.
They always promoted autonomy and worked within the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Practice. I couldn’t have asked to work with a better team and cannot thank them enough.”
Here's more from the team about the role they play at CHFT:
We are the Calderdale Community Midwives, and we are experts in normal pregnancy and birth.
Our team consists of Midwives, Midwife Support Workers, Administrative support and we also work closely with our Specialist Midwives and Health Advisors. We work across the whole of the Calderdale area and we support women and their families through their pregnancies and until their babies are 28 days old.
We see families in clinics which we hold at CRH, at GP surgeries, in Children’s Centres and in their own homes. We provide a 24-hour on call service and support women to have home births, as well as supporting our inpatient services when they need a hand. It’s not quite ‘Call the Midwife’ but attending a home birth is often the highlight of a student's community experience.
We enjoy having students in our team. They are going to be our future workforce and colleagues, so we invest time to make sure they get the best learning experience possible. We are so pleased to be nominated for this award – it means that our hard work is appreciated!
