Colleagues can now reserve a place at the Children and Young People's Mental Health Professional Summit, which will take place on Friday 9th February in the Lecture Theatre at HRI.

Anyone interested in the mental health of children and young people (up to 18) who use our services at CHFT, or from any of our partners who support the mental health care of this age group, is welcome to attend the one-day professional summit.

Paediatric Mental Health Liaison Sister, Angie Salmons, pictured, has organised the summit. She said: "Coming together as professionals and partners helps to increase the awareness of the impact mental health can have on children and young people with physical illness and living with long-term conditions.

"It is exciting to be doing something collaborative and creative to help reduce the stigma around mental illness for children and young people."

It is open to all disciplines and roles and has a multi-professional approach.

The summit includes presentations from the Clinical Health Psychology team; Child and Adolescent Mental Health Crisis Services; NHS England; Colleagues leading and developing mental health care within FSS at CHFT; and most excitingly from a young person and his mum about their experience of overcoming potential mental health barriers to accessing specialist physical care at CHFT.

There will also be interactive workshops and discussions.

Places are limited and a light lunch will be provided. Please contact angie.salmons@cht.nhs.uk to reserve a place.
