Colleagues on the Acute Stroke Unit have received the sad news that former colleague, retired Staff Nurse Anne Hodgson, has sadly died.

Close friend and colleague, Staff Nurse Andrea Moore, said: “I first met Anne 30 years ago when I worked with her at Northowram Hospital, and then she later went on to work with us on the Acute Stroke Unit.

“She was a dedicated nurse and always up for a laugh. Anne would join in anything. She ran the London Marathon for Ward funds. When we met her at the finish line, she was as fresh as a daisy and we were all sat on the grass shattered from watching.

"She took part in the Halifax Gala, sang her heart out in our little hospital choir, and up until recently The Cube Choir in Halifax. She loved helping with Northowram Scarecrow construction, and particularly enjoyed the pub quizzes. We had a few group trips home and abroad too."

Andrea has shared information about Anne’s funeral:

  • Friday, 19th January at 12 noon
  • Elland Park Wood Crematorium, HX5 9HZ
  • Dress Code: As colourful as possible.
  • Donations to: Sight Savers/ RNLI

For friends and neighbours, the hearse will set off from Anne’s street at about 11.10am and it would be lovely if they wanted to join in Anne’s send off.

Please let Andrea know if they are able to attend the funeral, and if they would like to join the family for the wake after the service.

The venue for the wake is: The Casa Restaurant, 281 Elland Road, HD6 2RG.
