The work to install our new Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology begins today and is likely to take a couple of days to complete.

By this morning 1,115 colleagues had already created an account on the new Nexus ANPR system, with a further 681 submitting their applications for their virtual permit.

Please remember that even if you have a current permit you will need to both register and apply on the Nexus portal if you want to park at HRI or Acre Mills. This is because the barriers will be removed, and you will no longer need to use your access swipe card for entry to these car parks.

Instead, once you have applied for your permit, the Nexus system will know that you are a CHFT colleague with a valid permit.

There will be no change to the amount you pay.

Please register and apply before Monday, 5th February 2024. No enforcement notices will be issued to existing or new permit holders until we are assured that all interested colleagues have applied for their virtual permits. This is likely to be around mid-February.

What difference will patients and visitors see?

There are no changes to anything, except the technology we are using. The free 30-minute drop off and pick up time remains in place and all charges remain the same. As long as patients do not stay for longer than 30-minutes they will not be charged, regardless of the number of times they enter the car park.

Patients will no longer need to queue to get in or out of our car parks at HRI or Acre Mills, and the new pay machines will give a better experience all round. Payment can be by cash or card.

Where patients are exempt from paying charges, they should continue, as they do now to have their stay validated by the team on the main reception desk. This includes Blue Badge holders and carers amongst others. The Keep Carers Caring car parking form has been adapted for the change and is on the intranet page.
