This week is Malnutrition Awareness Week and our Dietetic Team is having a real focus on the importance of completing accurate Nutritional Assessments using the Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST).

All patients admitted to our hospitals should have a MUST Assessment completed. If the MUST score is one or more, their oral intake needs to be accurately recorded on a food record chart. A red tray (HRI) or burgundy lid (CRH) is needed to highlight this to everyone dealing with their care.

Throughout this week there will be a stand at both main hospital entrances which will provide more information about malnutrition and the MUST Assessment.

If you need any more advice you can contact any of our Dietetic Assistants, Helina Begum, Shamila Tufail, Aminah Ziarab and Majjda Jamil.

MUST training is available for all ward colleagues. Please contact Aminah or Shamila on CRH extension 4267 or HRI extension 2749 to arrange training.
