Our latest Youth Forum event saw a group of young people get hands on with specimens as part of some work to learn more about the experience of young people having blood tests at CHFT.

Children's Community Nursing Team Manager, Jo Ineson, led the event and said: “What a great time we had at the Youth Forum event held at Rainbow Community Hub.

“We had a display and hands-on practice at testing some specimens from Biomedical Scientists, Zoe Potter and Kim Tate.

“A spooky Halloween craft session was supported by Jade Ramsden from the Play Team.  And Paediatric Outpatients Sister, Rebecca Bedford, helped us get feedback during the session on the young peoples’ experiences when having blood tests with CHFT.

“And of course, we had the obligatory pizzas from Dominoes.”

Also there were Governors, Gina Choy and Lorraine Wolfenden. They were there to make connections and chat to attendees about their role as governors. Membership and Engagement Manager, Vanessa Henderson, and Membership and Engagement Assistant, Robin Cooper, were at the event as they’re also looking at their own youth engagement plans.

Thanks also to our Paediatric Diabetes Team Patient Advocates, Amanda Grayson and Jo Kitchen for their support on the day.

Pathology’s Clinical director, Anu Rajgopal, said: “You’ve been fabulous at promoting public engagement with pathology. Hopefully you will inspire a whole generation of future scientists. Well done.”
