We had to add a new category this year given how far we’ve come using digital technology at CHFT to support better outcomes for our patients, as well as help simplify tasks for colleagues.
And the winners of our Driving Digital Innovation and Change category were the The Radiology AI Team, who we featured earlier this week being visited by The Shadow Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology and MP for Hove, Peter Kyle. He praised their transformational work using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to diagnose suspected lung cancer in patients referred for a chest x-ray by their GP.
Picking up the Award from former Look North Presenter, Tanya Arnold, was Deputy Director of Operations for FSS, Sarah Clenton.
Sarah said: "We're the first Trust in the country to use AI this way and that's down to CHFT having the confidence in us to do that.
"But truly we wouldn't be here without this amazing team."
Here are a few words from the nomination: “Prior to using the Artificial Intelligence (AI) software, reporting would take 7 to 14 days for the report. Now it takes seven seconds, and patients whose scans highlight suspected lung cancer are fast-tracked. The software will continue to support the team in reducing reporting waiting times.”
Congratulations to our other finalists, The Endoscopy Team, the eCDR Project Team, Oliver Hutchinson and the ePMA Team.
