The nursing team on Ward 19 at HRI have been given a huge shout-out by Clinical Director of Pharmacy, Lis Street, after becoming the first acute ward in the country to switch to a new electronic controlled drugs register (eCDR).

Lis said: "I just wanted to say how fab the Ward 19 nurses have been, piloting the new electronic CD register that we have designed with a software company specifically for acute trust use.

"It’s a brand new system and they are first in the country to use it! We ‘switched off’ the paper CD register and paper CD ordering, so now there is no need to run down to pharmacy with the paper CD requisition book which will hopefully save them lots of time. Massive thanks to Mandy, Nicola and the ward 19 nursing team.

"They really are awesome!"

Ward Manager, Many Naylor, said: "We didn't realise we were the first ward to adopt it because we're such a technically advanced Trust, but it's really something to be proud of. I know that we were able to help smooth the way for our Trust colleagues for the rest of the rollout.

"It's been pretty straightforward. I must admit having used paper forms for my whole nursing career I was a bit nervous! We really couldn't have done it without the Pharmacy Team - they've been so supportive through the whole process."
