Last week our colleagues from CHFT completed their own ‘exchange visit’ to the Skåne region of Sweden, to see the digital technology being used in their hospitals.
Chief Operating Officer Jonny Hammond, Managing Director for Digital Health Rob Birkett, Chief Nurse Information Officer Louise Croxall, Consultant and Chief Clinical Information Officer Jonathan Cowley and Director of Digital Operations and Delivery Neil Staniforth visited Malmo and Lund.
The group saw the process of a patient journey from ED to becoming an inpatient, and their hospital-at-home team. They got to look around a newly-built hospital, which is due to open next January, taking away some ideas for our own reconfiguration journey.
It follows a visit earlier this year by a Swedish delegation of healthcare colleagues who came to learn more about our electronic patient record (EPR) system. So, this was our turn to Go See what our continental colleagues are doing differently, how it’s working and whether we can implement similar processes at CHFT.
Louise said: “It was a great opportunity to see how different countries run their healthcare and a chance to learn from others. Sweden seems to have the same pressures as us, so it was interesting to see their process and workflows and to bring some ideas back to the UK.
