Surgical Outpatients Clinical Support Worker, Susan Simpson, has created two special information boards this month. One in honour of Black History Month, and the other for Breast Cancer Awareness.
Susan is responsible for the information boards in the department and will choose a different topic each month to provide information to patients, visitors and colleagues. This month’s topic celebrates and coincides with Black History Month and is a topic close to Susan’s heart.
The board features information on innovations from Black people relating to the medical profession.
She said: “This month's board on Black History was my time to showcase what Black History means to me and how important Black History is to the world. I found out a lot about Black inventors in the Medical field, which made me feel very proud. I urge everyone to pop down and have a look at my displays every month.”
With this month also being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, she has done a second board to promote awareness.
Surgical Outpatient Department Sister, Melissa Hall, said: “We're all super proud of Susan going above and beyond to do the information boards, which educate and promote health awareness to both colleagues and patients.”
