In early 2024, thanks to funding from our Charity, the CHFT Staff Psychology Service will launch and coordinate a new critical incident peer-support debriefing service. The debriefing service aims to provide staff with access to education about stress responses and create a space for staff to talk through the impact of critical incidents and explore how they are coping.
The debriefing service will adopt a popular peer-support debriefing model, called Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). This service has been developed in collaboration with the West Yorkshire Wellbeing Hub, which adopts the same model.
We are currently welcoming expressions of interest for the role of debrief facilitator. Becoming a debriefer requires attendance at a five day face-to-face CISM training course (at a local venue to be confirmed shortly) taught by the founder of the Nottingham Trauma Centre, Professor Stephen Regel. The training course will take place on the 22nd, 23rd, 29th, 30th and 31st January 2024.
You can find more information about critical incident peer-support debriefing here. At the end of the booklet, there is a link to an expression of interest form. If you are interested in becoming a debrief facilitator, we ask that you express your interest no later than Thursday 30th November 2023.
Please direct any questions you may have about this service and the role to StaffPsychologyService@cht.nhs.uk.
