Rose Hagreen and the e-Rostering Team are this month's deserving Star Award winners. They were nominated by Clinical Educator, Gary Miles, for their work to support an increased number of student nursing placements.

Gary's nomination reads: "Rose and her team have been phenomenal in the success of an exciting pilot called the Clinical Placement Expansion Programme (CPEP).

"There is a huge shortage of clinical placements for student nurses. Without an increase in placements, students will not be able to qualify, join the Nursing and Midwifery Council and ultimately become tomorrow's workforce.

"We want to improve our workforce recruitment and retention position, and this exciting pilot provided the solution.

"Having fewer students on placement per shift optimises student learning opportunities and makes this more manageable for our clinical colleagues. Rose and the team have worked collaboratively with clinical colleagues, our local Higher Educational Institute (HEI), placement teams and students, and have been phenomenal in the success of the pilot. Without their dedication, excellent innovative ideas and passion, this pilot would not have been possible.

"Rose always goes ‘above and beyond’ and delivers the values, behaviours, and vision of CHFT every day!"

Our CEO, Brendan Brown, presented the Award, saying: "The team have tackled this with enthusiasm and hard work, and we really appreciate what you've done. I think the way you've gone about it, and the feedback from students - you've really pulled out all the stops."

Chief Nurse, Lindsay Rudge, added: "It's another thing you've met head on, and made a massive difference to the students and their placement. But this team has always made a massive difference, going the extra mile, doing things colleagues don't even know about, and you always make things right."

Rose, who recently returned from leave, thought she'd got away with coming back quietly. On receiving the Award, she said: "Thank you so much, we really appreciate that. I've had six weeks off, cuddling my new grandbaby, and now I'm back."
