The National Institute for Health and Research (NIHR) is hosting an Associate Principal Investigator Scheme Educational Event which will take place virtually on Thursday, 30th November 2023 between 09:00 and 12:30.

The event is aimed at Health and Care professionals interested in learning more about the Associate Principal Investigator (PI) Scheme, which is a six month in-work training opportunity, providing practical experience for healthcare professionals starting their research career.

Here’s what three of our colleagues, who have completed the scheme, said:

  • Physician Associate, Claire MacDonald: “The Associate PI Scheme has given me the opportunity to be involved in research, which I believe is important for the future health of our patients, in a well-supported way.”
  • Speciality Doctor, Eloka Okoye: “I learnt a lot about the conduct of a clinical trial and the importance of robust adherence to rigorous research practices to ensure we keep our patients safe.”
  • Speciality Doctor, Mohamed Khawgali: “The scheme has given me the opportunity to experience a leadership role within research. I have been able to demonstrate the principles of recruiting patients into studies. I felt supported by the Research Team and learnt a lot from them."

Visit the NIHR website if you would like more information, or register to attend.
