Two of our newly-promoted sisters in the Children’s Outpatients Clinic are already making their mark after just a couple of weeks in post.
Clinical Nurse Manager, Katie Booth, said: “Louise Thompson and Rebecca Bedford have been staff nurses with us for some time and they are already doing some amazing things.
“They are enthusiastic, proactive, and keen to improve our service and support the teams.
“Louise has produced an information board so that our patients know what to expect when visiting us. And Rebecca is supporting the continued development of our Youth Forum which will run again in October.
Louise said: “I work with a wonderful, dedicated team in Children’s Outpatients and have done for two years as a staff nurse. To now become one of the sisters for the service is an exciting opportunity for me.
“I put together the 10 steps information board to help give our patients and their families a better understanding of what will happen during their appointment. It is a privilege to care for the children and their families who use the service. Our aim is to be welcoming and give patients a positive experience during their visit to us.”
Rebecca added: "Wow, what an amazing experience for me. I've been in this wonderful team for a year, and what a team we are.
“One of the most important parts of working in Outpatients is having the ability to engage with a child and gain their trust. Family centred care is a huge aspect in outpatients. It's important that we provide the care for the child and that care, guidance, and support is provided for parents, carer and family members.
“I love being able to engage with the families and give them a positive experience when they come to our department. I've recently taken on the role of going to our Youth Forum sessions where we receive the children’s views on their experiences with our service and how they think we could improve and adapt for their needs and others.”
