The Black History Month flag flies proudly over HRI as we begin a month of celebrations and learning.
This year the theme of Black History Month (BHM) is ‘Saluting our Sisters’ - to recognise and applaud the invaluable contributions of Black women.
Non-Executive Director, Denise Sterling, pictured in the green jumper, joined The Race Equality Network last Friday at the flag raising.
She told those there: “If you look in every corner of British society you will see imprints of their accomplishments in the arts, sciences, politics, academia, healthcare to name a few.
“By highlighting the trailblazers who have overcome immense challenges and adversity to achieve greatness we help promote inclusivity and representation.
“Representation matters and it is essential for Black girls and women to see positive role models who look like them and encourage the next generation of Black girls to dream big and reach for the stars.
“As we salute our sisters this month, if you work with a colleague who is quietly and without much recognition doing a fantastic job here at CHFT, please let her know she is appreciated.”
