Last week our colleagues had the opportunity to visit our new A&E unit. More than 400 of our colleagues arrived for a peek at paediatrics and a mooch around majors.

Feedback for our facility has been coming in thick and fast - here are just a few snippets of what colleagues said after their visit:

  • Surgery and Anaesthesia Matron, Sarah Wallwork: “The department is so light and welcoming. The assessment rooms provide great visibility and will improve the experience for patients.”
  • Surgical Outpatients Sister, Melissa Hall: "I was amazed by how big the department was - it’s bright, spacious, and inviting for our future patients. So much thought has been put into it, such as the sky lights and the murals in paediatrics. I am incredibly proud to work within a Trust which will provide exemplary care to patients attending A&E."
  • Fundraising and Engagement Co-ordinator, Emma-Leigh Quinn: “It was a privilege to see our new A&E before it opens. We are so lucky to have this facility on our doorstep in Huddersfield.”
  • Senior Clinical Educator, Arley Byrne: "Congratulations and well done to all involved with the planning and creation of our new A&E. There's not a detail spared - we now have a high quality space to match the high quality care our A&E staff deliver."
  • Medical Illustrations Manager, Jane Armitage: "Very impressive - was my first reaction. Spacious, light and a phenomenal area for staff to work.”
  • Personal Assistant to the Director and Deputy Director of Finance, Rochelle Scargill: "I thought it was fabulous. It's nice to have a positive story and to see the results of everyone's hard work. It is something to be proud of."
  • HRI Appointment Centre Supervisor, Hussnain Bhatti: "It was a nice, modern, inviting, fresh and exciting place to visit. The colour scheme really gives it life. It's definitely going to meet the needs of local people and it's good to have something we can celebrate. The whole place is soothing on the eyes - it has a really calming aura about it."
  • Pharmacy Admin Assistant, Victoria Stewart: "Light, airy and welcoming. Spacious, modern and big in comparison to the old ED!"
  • Staff Nurse, Rachel Beal: “One of the main aspects of the new A&E was how bright it was. With the use of natural light, this will benefit patients and staff alike. Also how much space there was enabling a productive working environment.”
