As part of Falls Prevention Week, (18th September - 22nd September), the Community Falls Prevention Team in Calderdale have been running informative sessions for colleagues.
These Falls Awareness Sessions include a mini exercise class to get staff on their feet as well as discussions around falls awareness, falls assessments and the services involved. The feedback has been positive from colleagues. Speech and Language Therapist, Ayshea Sheikh, said: "It was very informative and useful to know what happens and how we can identify those who may need our input."
Community Matron, Sarah Jenkins, said: "Falls prevention is everyone's business, to prevent unnecessary complications and to promote aging well within our communities."
There is a final session at Todmorden Health centre on Tuesday, 19th September at 9am. Colleagues can contact sarah.jenkins@chft.nhs.uk to book a place.
You can also spot the Team at Woolshops Shopping Centre in Halifax town centre on Wednesday, 20th September, where they will be promoting falls awareness to the public. Feel free to say hello if you see them.
