Huge thanks to our fantastic teams of fire wardens who work in the background to help keep our patients, visitors and colleagues safe.

Here are just a few of the 1,000-strong team pictured with our Chief Executive, Brendan Brown and Trainee Fire Officer, Kumer Zaman – known as Zam.

Zam, top left, said: “Fire wardens have a great deal of responsibility. They manage the fire alarm in their area, control evacuations if required, deliver staff inductions, report faults and conduct weekly fire checks.

“There is always a fire warden on duty whilst departments are operational to ensure we remain fire safe.

“The responsibilities they carry out does not go unnoticed. They are essential to ensuring our colleagues, patients and visitors remain safe. They dedicate time and effort to everyone’s safety, and for this we would all like to thank them for their dedication and commitment.

“Please continue to support our fire wardens as ultimately we are all responsible for fire safety.”

Pictured below are Research Healthcare Professional, Kathryn Hanson and Service Performance Officer, Naomi Smith. Naomi makes sure Trust Offices are kept safe, along with colleagues Mandy Taylor and Val Rigg.

Kathryn said: “The ongoing support we get from both Zam and Fire Officer, Keith Rawnsley, is just brilliant.

“We now hold a daily fire warden meeting in the department to make sure we all know what’s happening.

“We’ve recently moved locations, so we’ve had to completely refresh the training plans and Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEP) for those who need extra support in a fire emergency.”

Essential Safety Training for all

We offer face-to-face or e-learning.  Patient-facing colleagues can carry out either, although the preferred method is face-to-face.
