Equans and their contractors will be carrying out essential electrical maintenance work on the electrical switch gear at Calderdale Royal Hospital starting tomorrow, Tuesday 12 September. The work will take place between Tuesday to Friday in the two weeks commencing 11 and 18 September.
The electrical power supply at CRH is split into:
- Essential Services indicated by red sockets
- Non-essential Services indicated by white sockets
What will happen?
- Work will start each day at approximately 5.30am each morning from Tuesday, 12th September.
- Essential services will experience a momentary interruption of power for approximately 15 seconds (just like routine generator testing).
- Non-essential services will experience an interruption of power for approximately 10 minutes. (IMPORTANT the areas listed for Thursday 21st September will experience a loss of non-essential services for up to two hours)
- Following this, essential services will experience a second momentary interruption of power of approximately 15 seconds and then both essential and non-essential services will resume.
How you can help and more information
- Please switch off computers correctly when leaving work prior to the electrical shutdown. This means computers must be switched off at the socket; if this does not happen there is a risk that information will be lost.
- Prior to any electrical work commencing, Equans will visit critical areas such as A & E, ICU, Diagnostic Imaging, Theatres and Pathology to ensure colleagues are aware of the planned work and to ensure it is safe and appropriate to carry out the work.
- All lifts will be appropriately signed and checked during the power interruptions.
Contacts
- Please direct all queries on the day to the Help Desk on 4600.
- Any queries prior to the day affected should be directed to Service Performance Team on Extension 2439 or 2530, email: val.rigg@cht.nhs.uk or call EQUANS on Extension 4633
Details of the areas affected by this work are shown below. Please check the lists carefully to see how your areas will be affected.
Non-essential services will be unavailable from 5:30am for up to two hours, then following this time essential services will experience a momentary interruption of 15 seconds before power will resume to both services.
