Here’s 8-year-old Daisy Knight, presenting a cuddle blanket in memory of her brother Louis, with the support of her mother Kirsty, from the 4Louis charity.

Key Worker for Child Death, Liz Martel, said: “I am so thankful for the amazing donation. It will go to the HRI site where it will be used with children who sadly die in A&E. It is also brilliant to have a second device in the Trust if we ever need more than one at the CRH site.

The blanket allows families to have more time with their child in the event of a death so that they can stay longer on the ward before being transferred to the mortuary.

Daisy raised funds for the £5000 blanket by holding cake sales, fashion shows, litter picking and anything else that she could think of.

Liz added: ”I just wish I could have met them but sadly they had a terrible journey down to us and I had to leave before they'd arrived. The ward staff did a brilliant job of welcoming them though along with Rachel and her team.”
