Huge congratulations to our first cohort of Associate District Nurses, who will soon go to University to begin their District Nurse Msc Specialist Practitioner course.

They are the first of their kind within Calderdale and have been in development posts to learn the role and wider divisional work prior to starting University.

Beth Davies, Abi Crowther, Morgana Gosnal-Tyler, and Heather Scott all completed a rigorous interview process to be accepted on the associate programme, as well as further interviews at University to secure a place on the course.

Community Matrons, Louise Byrom and Jayne Duffy, have led the programme, supporting the foursome over the past eight months initially developing the role and initiating the pathway. All to prepare them for the course and hopefully gaining District Nurse posts upon completion.

Here are their thoughts:

  • Beth: “I feel fortunate to be part of the first cohort of Associate District Nurses. The development role has been worthwhile and I'm looking forward to starting University.”
  • Morgana: “The opportunity to experience wider insight into divisional working which I would not have had the exposure to in my previous roles has been eye opening and invaluable.”
  • Abi: “I’ve had a good six months of development time which has been well supported with an emphasis on both personal and professional development.”
  • Heather “Although we’ve been pushed out of our comfort zones and exposed to wider discussions, it was needed to enable and promote our development for the future.”
