A message from Gregg Peers, who works at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, and is a black belt in Shotokan Karate:
Are you interested in competing in sport karate, whether kata or kumite, individual or team? Then we need you as we look to establish the first ever karate competition specifically for NHS workers. Whether a doctor, paramedic, nurse, allied health professional or administrative and clerical staff, we want to hear from you.
We know that you have all been fighting on the frontline in one form or another for many decades, providing vital public services and now we offer you the opportunity to fight for silverware. This competition would be the very first competition exclusively for NHS workers and offers an opportunity to come together, to train together, to compete together and have fun. There will also be ample opportunity for networking and close collaboration between organisations whilst doing the sport we love, karate.
The event would be run according to EKF and WKF (World Karate Federation) rules, but all karateka are welcome to attend and compete.
Please register your interest whether as a competitor, referee, spectator or would-be volunteer by emailing: gregg.peers@mbht.nhs.uk.
