Data from NHS England has shown that CHFT is the only Trust in the country that is meeting all top four cancer targets.

Trusts in England have a total of ten targets relating to cancer performance to meet, which are all centred around improving diagnosis and treatment times.

The four top targets that CHFT is meeting are:

  • 28-day wait from urgent referral to patient being told they have cancer or normal result
  • 2-month wait from GP urgent referral to first treatment
  • 1-month from decision to treat to first treatment
  • 2-week wait from GP urgent referral to first consultant appointment

Chief Operating Officer, Jonny Hammond said: “The sustained efforts by all our teams to do the right thing for patients and their families is absolutely reflected in these figures.

“Whether it’s our clinical teams, those in our Referral to Treatment Team or the Cancer Tracking Team – they’ve all played their part working together and I’m immensely proud of them all.

“Close working with general practice on clinical pathways has also been pivotal in supporting our population to receive diagnosis and treatment as quickly as possible”
