It’s been two years of waiting and planning, but finally this Wednesday our Pain Clinic Manager, Tina Knight, flies out for a trip of a lifetime as a Deputy Unit Leader from West Yorkshire at the 25th World Scout Jamboree in Saemangum, South Korea.
Tina, who is our Disability Network Chair, had to apply for selection and was pushed by her son Chris to go for it back in 2021. She’s one of only eight in the county who will be accompanying the party of youngsters.
The trip starts this Wednesday, when she’ll be flying out with 36 young people to take part in various activities in Korea, via Singapore.
Tina, who's also a Cub Leader and Assistant County Commissioner for West Yorkshire Cubs, said: “I just love scouting and what it gives to young people. They can take part in so many experiences and this Jamboree, which only takes place every four years, is going to be absolutely amazing.”
The Jamboree will see 40,000 scouts from across the world stay on a newly-built campground on a piece of reclaimed sea land, with a host of activities.
Tina added: “I’ve packed my wellies, as like us they’ve had a lot of rain lately in Korea!
"The team are particularly proud that they’ve amassed more than 1000 followers on their dedicated TikTok account @ukunit45WSJ – so feel free to follow us and see what we're up to.”
