Not only did we have two winners at the recent Clinical Research Network Yorkshire and Humber 2023 Research Awards, Rehabilitation Dietician, Lisa Green, was also nominated in the Allied Health Professional (AHP) Researcher of the Year category.

She was nominated by Research Manager, Lesley Thomis, who wrote: “Lisa has been instrumental in engaging with our commercial partner NUTRICIA over the last two years and has successfully completed two commercial research trials: the ‘2Kcal Tube Feed Study’ and the ‘High Energy High Protein Peptide Feed Study’.

“Lisa provided excellent oversight as Principal Investigator (PI) for these interventional trials and surpassed the recruitment target for both. Due to her excellent reputation, she was approached again to take part in another commercial trial evaluating a bolus pouch feed. Despite enormous clinical pressures within the service, our Trust was one of the first sites to open to recruitment and Lisa was the first PI to recruit to the study in the UK.”

One of her patients, Robert, has really benefitted from her work and said: “Since Lisa suggested that I take part in the nutrition bolus research study, it has been 100% successful. Life is a lot easier with the pouches, there is less waste, and they allow me to enjoy life better because they’re easier to carry, so I can enjoy traveling and doing what I need to do in my flat.

“Lisa has been extremely supportive throughout the programme, and I feel honoured to have been chosen by her to take part in the research.”

Lisa said: “When I saw the email with the nomination the first thing I said was ‘oh my god!’ – I am incredibly honoured and proud to have been nominated. Everyone is so busy, so for Lesley to take the time out to nominate me was so nice.”

Director of Operations, Michael Folan, said: “I used to work with Lisa clinically many years ago and when I first came back to the Trust she told me about the work she’d done to support a patient run a marathon despite his nasogastric feed and nutrition requirements. I thought “wow” then in terms of how she goes above and beyond. I continue to think “wow” today.”
