Our Estates provider at CRH, Equans, will be carrying out essential electrical maintenance work at Calderdale Royal Hospital on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th July 2023. 

We’re asking colleagues to check if this affects them and read below, also making sure that all computers are shut down before leaving work so that information isn’t lost.

What is happening and what colleagues need to do

Work will take place between 6am to 12midday on Saturday, and 6am to 9am on Sunday.

The work will see an interruption to the essential supplies (indicated by red switches) of a maximum of one minute whilst the load is transferred to generators.  The generators will then support these supplies whilst the essential maintenance work is taking place.  On Saturday this will be a maximum of six hours and Sunday around three hours; a further interruption will occur when the supply reverts from generator and back to Mains supply.

Non-essential supplies, indicated by white switches will not be available during this period of time.  Colleagues should therefore use the supplies with red switches as an alternative.

• Patients will be offered a cold lunch option on Saturday with modified hot meal diets still available (primarily Stroke Ward).
• All computers should be shut down correctly when you leave work prior to the shutdown and switched off at the socket.  If this does not happen there is a risk that any data on display will be lost. 
• Prior to any electrical work commencing, Equans will visit critical areas such as A & E, ICU, Diagnostic Imaging, Theatres to ensure colleagues are aware of the planned work and to ensure it is safe and appropriate to carry out the work. 
• All lifts will be appropriately signed and checked during the power interruptions.
• Note that all bedpan washers and ward fridges are on essential service and therefore will not go off.
