After finishing a 12-hour shift in Radiology, Advanced Practitioner, Charlotte Manning, noticed an elderly man on the floor with a head injury. Concerned, she rang for an ambulance and waited with him until the paramedics arrived.

He needed to go A&E, but didn't want to. So, Charlotte asked if he'd go if she went with him, and he agreed. She even travelled in the ambulance with him and waited in A&E until he was seen to ensure he stayed, saying: "it was just the right thing to do".

Charlotte didn't get home to her family until after midnight and said: “My poor mum! She was looking after my kids and got more than she bargained for that day.”

She was nominated by Advanced Practitioner, Jessica Shaw who said: “Charlotte is a caring and compassionate individual who always goes above and beyond for all her patients, no matter what their needs. She is always welcoming, with a big smile on her face - she's a complete joy to be around. The reward is well deserved!”

Charlotte said: “I was so shocked, I wasn't expecting it because I only did what anyone else would have done - so when I was pulled to the side to see Brendan, I wasn't sure what was going on, it got me worried as I thought I'd done something wrong.”
