NG Tube training drop-in sessions are available

A reminder that nasogastric tube training is still underway and that:

  • NG tubes used for feeding should only be managed by staff who have received appropriate training and competency sign off in their three-yearly update in ESR. So, no training no touching.
  • Agency nurses cannot access NG tubes as training cannot be confirmed.
  • All NG tube insertions and ongoing position checks should be documented on EPR in line with the Nutrition and Hydration policy.
  • Position checks and pH checks should be undertaken before the NG tube is used and if there is any doubt regarding the position of the tube it should not be used until further checks have been undertaken and the position has been confirmed.

  • Monday, 24th July - 1pm, 2pm and 3pm - Medium Training Room at CRH
  • Monday, 7th August - 1pm, 2pm and 3pm - Forum Room 2 at HRI
  • Wednesday, 23rd August - 1pm, 2pm and 3pm - Large Training Room at CRH
  • Monday, 4th September - 1pm, 2pm and 3pm - Boardroom at HRI
  • Tuesday, 12th September - 1pm, 2pm and 3pm - Large Training Room at CRH
