Described by her Pharmacy colleagues as "incredibly knowledgeable", Specialist Pharmacist, Wendy Sunter, has been accredited by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

Wendy has worked in pharmacy for, in her words, “a long time”, and was one of the first pharmacists to qualify as an independent non-medical prescriber in 2007. She now leads a team of nurses, healthcare assistants, administrators, and pharmacists who provide an anticoagulant service to patients in Calderdale and Huddersfield.

After completing CHFT's Empower programme, and along with the mentorship of Dr Elizabeth Loney, newly 'empowered’ Wendy gained the confidence to complete and submit her portfolio for accreditation at Consultant Pharmacist level. The Society have since accredited her, which is a huge achievement.

Clinical Director of Pharmacy, Elisabeth Street said “We are very proud of her achievement. She is an inspiration to her team - and to me. What she's achieved is the Pharmacy equivalent of winning a gold medal!"

Wendy said: “I couldn’t quite believe it when I read the email as only 52% of applicants pass on their first try. Providing excellent patient care has always been my aim. I hope it’ll lead to further opportunities to improve patient care.”
