Research Midwives, Rebecca Leon and Melanie Struthers, have been shortlisted as finalists for the Clinical Research Network Yorkshire and Humber 2023 Research Awards - and they'll find out if they've won this Thursday evening.

The pair - who job share - are in the Research Midwife of the Year category. The awards recognise the fantastic work being carried out in research across Yorkshire and Humber.

Interim Research and Development Lead, Tracy Wood, nominated them, saying: "I nominated Becky and Mel because of their outstanding commitment to research delivery and engagement within Maternity Services, both in hospital and community settings. They have significantly increased the number of clinical research studies opened over the past 12 months, engaging with community midwives to embed research in standard care therefore providing more opportunities for pregnant women to participate in observational and interventional research."

Mel added: "Becky and I were chuffed and proud when we heard the news. We work really well together as a team, but actually we need to thank colleagues in Maternity - from midwifery support workers, midwives and doctors. They've been so supportive about our research. It's a team effort."

The awards are at the Queens Hotel in Leeds this Thursday, 13th July and we wish them well.
