Non-surgical oncology (NSO) services are those that provide treatment and care for cancer patients other than surgery - primarily chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Work is continuing to progress to implement the preferred network delivery model for non surgical oncology services across West Yorkshire and Harrogate. Detailed work is being led in the north (Leeds, Harrogate, Bradford and Airedale) and south-sector (Mid Yorkshire/Calderdale and Huddersfield) level, with overarching activity via the three supporting strategic system-wide groups – finance, workforce and engagement. All are accountable to the NSO Delivery Group, which reports through the Cancer Alliance Board to WYAAT and into the ICB.
A comprehensive programme of community engagement across West Yorkshire will be launched towards the end of June, and more detailed information will be shared with place-based engagement leads in the next couple of weeks. Healthwatch Wakefield have been commissioned to lead on this work, which was scheduled to take place late last year but was paused pending further work on the model.
