Here’s our Chair Helen Hirst, togged up and in training for the Big Hospital Walk, which rounds-off this NHS big birthday week and takes place this coming Sunday.

Helen, who is one of 50 signed-up, said: "I’m really looking forward to the Big Hospital Walk on Sunday, 9th July. It will be great to meet up with colleagues, governors and people who support the hospitals and our charities.

“Please introduce yourself to me if you see me. I know that 10k is a fair way to walk if you're not used to it, so for those who don't feel they can manage the walk it would be good to see you wave us off or say hi at the end. “

There is still time to sign-up via our Charity’s website – but for those who want to pop along and wave people off or greet them at HRI the details are below.

Here’s what’s happening

  • Look for the orange gazebo outside both main entrances.
  • The walk sets off from Calderdale Royal Hospital at 11am.
  • The first people are expected to arrive back at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary around 1pm.
  • The car park will be cordoned off at HRI and you can grab an ice cream from Dixons and also meet the Huddersfield Town mascot. There will also be some of the vendors who come to our hospital markets as well as the Freemasons with the blood bike and others attending

Thanks go to IHP who are sponsoring the walk alongside Matt MacDonald and IBI Group and also to Calderdale Hospital Radio who are kindly promoting the walk too.
